David Cook seems to be parallelling Chris Daughtry. That season Chris did his spin on things and by the sixth or seventh week, it was pretty much his signature spin. Nothing wrong with that, mind you. Folks will tend to stick with styles they are most comfortable with. They know what works for them if they've been at this for awhile. Taylor stuck with what he knew - small club performing. Amanda is doing it with her bar-scene style.

Where you see interesting risks is the non-seasoned folks - either the young in age or the older folks without a lot of experience. They are the ones that will try to change it up per the judges and either soar or plummett depending. For example, I am sure Kristy Lee Cook would do fine in music if someone worked with her to find her "style" and helped her cultivate it. Right now, she's not sure what to do and is all over the map. She can't adapt.
