Well, it obviously depends on the artist, but remember that unlike most comic books, comic strips are both written AND drawn by the same person.


I don't think this is true. Some strips are written and drawn by the same guy, but I doubt its most. And today, with the joke a day strips, its likely less so than ever.


Best example of a strip that was written by someone other than the artist was SkyMaster or whatever that 50's space strip drawn by Jack Kirby was called. He complained that the writer(s) often were late with the scripts and that was one reason for the strips cancellation.
