Re: What are you reading?  (reply)
Doing something kind of unusual- I'm reading the Hulk Annuals straight through. Most of the stories are one offs, and they don't get tied into multi-part stories until much later. My copy of Annual 1 came today, and I'm ready to dive...

Re: Secret Wars: Marvel's New Universe? (reply)
I think this is much less a validation of Dan Didio, and more of a validation of 80s DC. Marvel was built on a level of realism that included real time growth of characters in the first 10 years of the Marvel Age. In the intervening 45...

i've been wanting this collection for ages, and am so happy to finally have it in hand. DH did soe good volumes, but having the bulk of the Star Wars issues i had as a child in one giant volume is great. The art compares well with the...

Re: YOE! Books (reply)
Received the Tom Sutton book yesterday. The intro essay is a nice overview of his career. It gets into specifics about his time at Charlton, and stays general about his Marvel, DC, and Eros work. The extras that accompany the intro pull...

Wow! What a great selection of books, Sterling. For me, it was finishing off the Fireside series of Marvel volumes. I picked up the box set of Origins/Son of Origins, Greatest Superhero Battles, Hulk, Spider-Man, Marvel Jumbo Fun Book,...

Fun volume! This contains the first couple of issues of FF I read as a kid. I'm not sure it is a buy, but it does have some solid work and fun stories in it.

Is this the first episode where Ronnie is identified by name? I assume he'll be back as Firestorm a few episodes down the line.

Re: MASTERWORKS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR OCTOBER 2014: MS. MARVEL VOL. 1! (reply)
I'm pleased with this one. My history with the character is pretty much limited to the Women of Marvel Fireside reprint of #1, Avengers 200, and Avengers Annual 10. I've basically been waiting 35 years to fill in the gaps. I'm sure these...

Re: No reprints of Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man? (reply)
HC reprints of PPTSSM: The Cloak and Dagger PHC was nearly all culled from PPTSSM appearances, starting with issue 64. The Stern Omni had maybe 13 issues from the series. Also, Spider-Man by Frank Miller had 2 issues. Close to 25 of the...

Re: MARVEL MASTERWORKS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR APRIL 2015! (reply)
On the fence about this. I'm not that into Avengers, but this volume kicks off with a huge favorite. Avengers 136 was my first exposure to Beast, Iron Man, the Avengers, and Tom Sutton! It was probably my 4th comic. On the other hand, I...

The Filth Deluxe Orion Omnibus Maybe the Neal Adams book. I was really expecting another Summer Morrison Omnibus- specifically JLA. Maybe it's being saved for closer to a movie.

Re: Results - part 1 - on page 3 === un-official Marvel Masterworks survey (reply)
I'm not sure if the 1980 cut-off is the definition of a Classic Omnibus. Since there is no place to log non-classic omnibus, it gets more confusing. Devil Dinosaur is pre-1980, as is Man-Thing- but I don't think anyone considers those...
