I would imagine that the elimination of one of Krypton's satellites would have had a destabilizing influence on the planet itself - food for thought, huh?

Seeking vengeance on their foes, the disarmed Angellacans launched a space-probe set on a galaxy-wide course. The probe’s instruments would record the technical knowledge of all the inhabited worlds it passed, in hopes that one of those worlds possessed a super-weapon which the people of Angellax could duplicate and use to destroy their enemy. Since the probe would take 100,000 years to complete its journey and return, the Angellacans placed themselves in suspended animation.

You're making the mistake of thinking that the Julius Schwartz edited titles such as Flash, Green Lantern and JLA were representative of the rest of the DC line. They were not. The Superman titles, Batman titles and Aquaman were all aimed at the 8-11 year old market. Only the Schwartz titles were a bit more sophisticated. I was nine in the summer of 1961 and I didn't find the Wonder Woman stories more juvenile than the rest of DC's line.
