I finally finished what I think will be my final map for my Crisis on Infinite Earths bind. I made a number of unusual decisions with this process because I felt certain arcs deserved more fleshing out than others and have decided to include more complete runs and more Red Skies than would be found in many maps. Batman-Long Halloween Question

It seem that this series is a fairly popular bind but I can't seem to find any info on how it went to the binder (as far as preparation goes). Are the card stock covers a concern or did they just go to the binder as is? And for those that did bind it are there any problems with the bind closing? Does it lay partially open b/c of the card stock?

My planned bind is LOTDK special Batman "Madness, Batman Ghosts and then The long Halloween. Tentatively titled...

Legends of the Dark Knight & Shadow of the Bat

Last night, a recent ebay victory arrived containing the first 75 issues of LotDK, and I quickly sat down to plot out a map for the entire series. Then I started to think about Shadow of the Bat, another defunct title, and wondered how best to have that one bound. Unfortunately, that series was rooted more heavily in the variety of Bat-crossovers through the years.

It looks like if I skip all of the crossover issues, I can bind the remainder of Shadow of the Bat in a minimum of two...

"Legacy" titles?

For lack of a better word, I consider titles such as Batman, Action Comics, Fantastic Four, etc. to be legacy titles, with long runs extending so far back it'd be near impossible to start a run of binds from the first issue. So, I thought I'd throw this out for discussion: where do you prefer to start a run of bound volumes when dealing with a series that dates back to the golden age?

For instance, I just came into a nice chunk of Captain America issues between #200 and...

Marvel sci fi?

Has anyone bound any old Marvel sci fi material like Killraven/War of the Worlds or John Carter, Warlord of Mars? I managed to snag some issues that might make good binding fodder, and was wondering if anyone had a map to share before i went and started my own.

The Incredible Hulk was one of my favorite books in the 80s/early 90s. I went through my collection & I have from 315-426 straight. So I'm trying to figure out how to bind them.

Making a pure Peter David set will leave out the first McFarlane issue, plus some good stuff before he hopped on, so I'm thinking of going this route. Let me know if you see any reason's not to.

Working on prepping a Trek bind of 1 shots and Trek unlimited. The problem is that a few of them have that inside recap gate-fold thing. Before I just ripped it at the fold and placed on the right side and that works just fine. But some of these guys have recap info printed right in the middle (where the fold is) so if I ripped it and placed it on the right side it would just look totally wrong.

So I guess folding is the solution, only 1- do I have...

Secret Invasion Saga

Rather than bind nearly everything connected to the Secret Invasion saga, I want to do a one volume collection colecting the key issues. I'm binding the 12 issues of the Civil War Chronicles as the Civil War rep, featuring the key issues from the series.

Secret Invasion Chronicles only got as far as 5 (of 9) issues before it was cancelled. Using the 5 issues of the Secret Invasion Chronicles, what further issues would you use to make a one volume collection of the saga?...

It seems like many of us are thinking of binding many titles from the Vertigo line. While I'm not going to bind everything, there seems to be quite a lot of good stuff to make books out of. However, many of the titles are very short runs, and so I would be binding a few short series together (I'd imagine my books would be 18-30 issues). With my last shipment, my tally stands at 105 bound books. At approximately 20 issues per, that's over 2000 comics stuck between hardcovers. I also figure that I'm about halfway through my overall binding plans.

So, its time to fess up. Who else has crossed the 100 volume mark?

Binding without damaging comics?

Interested in binding some books, but for various reasons I want to be able to recover the comics at a later date. This means no cutting, trimming, etc. Still, I realize it would be impossible to do any sort of binding without sacrificing at least some of the books' condition, but how much damage am I likely to see?

Also, if someone could recommend a company with a website I would really appreciate it. I don't believe Library does this kind of binding (do they?).

Has anyone checked out the nice looking Custom Covers by David Banks (Or customer) for the Hulk series from 11/27? They are gorgeous. Definitely makes me consider binding a couple series in SC form. I love Hardcovers but the custom art along with the quality of Banks' work makes me want to get a series in soft cover.

I owened a set of the soft covers for a few days after I bought them on eBay and then resold them. Very nice quality work. Does anyone out there primarily do...
