I live in Australia and grew up reading black and white reprints of mostly DC silver age and golden age comics along with the occasional Marvel books, most of these books were given to me from friends and family members.
As a child I loved the simplicity and escapism that these books gave me.

I grew out of comics for a while when I was about 13 mainly because my tastes had matured and I got other interests.

Chromium: Love it or Hate it

In my humble opinion, chromium covered comic books are awesome. I'm talking about the ones from the mid-90's with the slick paper and metallic wraparound covers. Say what you will about the interiors, but thesensation of picking up and reading a chromium book feels... more exciting, I guess. Like "Man, this comic is a big deal." And...

Official Handbook questions

I have a couple of questions re: the Official Marvel Handbook series of hardcovers.

Do these collect only the A-Z series of Handbook issues? Or do they also collect all of the other Handbook one-shots that were coming out for a couple of years prior to the A-Z series?

Roughly what percentage of the entries are brand new? Roughly what percentage of the entries are updated from earlier floppy publications?

Is there any bibliographic info with the entries? A...

Hey there,

OK, must admit I'm a bit clueless. Friend at work asked me about a Power Man series from sometime within the last five years. Wants me to be on the look out for him. I checked an online shop, they don't have anything listed. I seem to recall some PM & Iron Fist within the last few years, though this is supposed to be a solo PM series. May or may not have Luke Cage in the title as well.

Anyone able to shine a light on this for me? Thank you much!

War of Kings hardcover question

I just saw a sealed copy of this hardcover and noticed on the back cover that the contents list said nothing of the Secret Invasion: War of Kings one shot being included. When originally solicited, the hardcover was not to include this issue. But later on it was announced that it would rightfully be added.

Can anyone confirm if it has been included?

Giant-Size Thor Finale - Giant-Size Disappointment!

I just finished reading the Giant-Size Thor Finale wrapping up the Strazcynski run and am so disappointed! First off, based on the title of the darn comic, I was expecting a giant-size story wrapping up a lot of JMS' plot threads or at least moving the story forward significantly. The upcoming Defenders Masterworks (volume 2) would contain Giant-Size Defenders #1. Hi all,

Quick question, can anyone guess how Necrosha will be collected? I collect X-Force by trades, but also Legacy on floppies, so was hoping to get Necrosha in trades. Anyone fathom a guess if the Necrosha trades will contain the Legacy issues.

Similarly I'm debating holding off on Second Coming until a trade... Don't really fancy picking up New Mutants and X-Force in floppies...

Seeing as Age of Apocalypse and Onslaught have been collected in a bunch of big trades, I think it's time Joe Madureira's and Roger Cruz's Uncanny X-Men issues should be collected.

I know it won't happen, as it's not how the "Visionaries" line usually works, but I think The Cruz issues and the Mad issues should be collected together, and that the AoA issues should be included too. That way you'd have a collection that looks like:

hey all! I just caught up on current Amazing Spider-Man, and I am enjoying currently the Electro story arc. The art is a bit off, but the story is fine. I have been seeing the stories be a little up and down in quality however. The Black Cat issues were fun but the overall plot of them was awful in my opinion. I liked the List story for Spidey a good bit though. The Raptor stories weren't that great either. Also, there are too many artists on this book, and I wish there were only a couple...

The just-released Hercules: Full Circle HC includes an interview with Bob Layton from an issue of Marvel Age. In the interview (circa 1988 or so), Layton says that he is working on a Spider-Man graphic novel. Does anyone know if such a graphic novel was ever released? Layton doesn't reveal the title, but he does mention that the plot revolves around Spidey getting riddled with bullets and falling in love with a woman from the mob who takes him in to care for him. Any info on this...
